January 2018- December 2018
I look forward to working with you this year! To ensure there are no misunderstandings that reduce your learning experience or my teaching effectiveness, please read the following information carefully. I am emphasizing a few details that are important.
Communications:
I use emails as a tool for students and parents with schedule updates and performance instructions. Information will also be added to this website for you.
Lesson Schedules:
There will be 34 lessons during the school year, including two studio classes. Lessons will begin in August, with breaks at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring vacation. The two studio classes will be on Saturdays. The Christmas recital will be in December, and the Opera/Broadway recital in May. Students sign in at each lesson for the record. I work flexibly as schedule changes can occur, but your regular commitments are appreciated and effective.
Students:
Be on time for your lessons, and practice daily, preferably at a regular time. Two shorter times are better than one longer session. Bring music books, supplies (pencil, water bottle, etc.), and questions. Participate in our student recitals and events, and enjoy our times together!
Parents:
Encourage you aspiring singer and support my efforts. Attend recitals, provide a practice area free from distractions, and help your singer's practice sessions become a daily event at home. Parents may sit in on lessons occasionally, but I prefer to work with students 1:1. Let me know anytime if you would like progress reports or have questions.
Tuition:
During the school year, there are nine equal monthly payments, with amounts depending on lesson length. Payments are due the first week of each month, payable to me. For summer lessons, fees are similarly determined. I pay for studio classes, recital accompanists, and stagers. Students pay for music, competitions, extra lessons, audition accompanists, etc.
Attendance:
Regular attendance is essential for good progress, as I have reserved time for each student. It is his/her responsibility to be there. If you cannot make a lesson, let me know as soon as possible. Cancellations less that 24 hours or no-shows will still be charged for that lesson. Any lessons I must cancel will be made up.
Housekeeping:
When you arrive for your lesson, please walk in. Take off your shoes and be seated until I am ready for you. When you call, leave your name, number, and message. Please make checks to my name.
This should be another fun and exciting year as your voice teacher!
