TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:
It is my joy to assist singers of all ages and stages to discover how to help their voices do what they want them to in a healthy way, and to impart to them the love of singing! "Singing is honest emotion clearly stated!"
METHODS:
It is my goal to provide a positive learning and performing environment for my students as that is the foundation for building self confidence as well as creating a supportive studio environment. I feel very strongly about teaching my students to support, encourage, and learn from each other. We strive for the confidence to move forward in performance and to express the character and feelings of the text through the music.
We work on building healthy singing skills for proper breathing, tone production and projection . I believe that teaching a solid 'Classical Singing Technique' is the best way to achieve this goal...a healthy, properly supported and effective way to sing is easily used to sing other types of music.
It is my goal to teach students an appreciation of and love for many different types of music. Repertoire includes Musical Theater , Disney , folk songs, art songs and Opera Literature...something for everyone! We have studio goals of performing in "A Christmas Cabaret", "Musical Theater/Opera Fest", Master Classes, and various local/state/national auditions and competitions. Our singers do very well in these events, and many continue with their vocal studies into college and beyond. A select few join the professional world of Music Education, Musical Theater, and Opera performance!
